Had the chance today to visit Rexburg, Idaho for a few hours.  I went to school there for a few years and really enjoyed my time camping, hiking and snowboarding at Grand Targee.

HOWEVER, as we came back home, I thought about Why I’m Glad I Live in Utah County:

  1. Four Seasons: Even though some may not like all the snow, I love how there are four distinct seasons in Utah County.
  2. Good regulation of traffic: I know, I know, this is very debatable depending on the time of day and location; but as we got on the freeway, I noticed how effective the traffic lights were to pause an influx of all the vehicles attempting to merge.  Thanks for adding the traffic meters and the car pool lane to make driving a bit easier in Utah County.
  3. Oh How Lovely are the Mountains! Mt. Timpanogus, Mt. Nebo – picturesque!
  4. So much to do, so little time: from hiking the Timpanookee trail, to fishing in Provo Canyon, to visiting the magnificent BYU campus, to eating at the number of fast food restaurants in Utah County – there is a lot of great family activities in Utah County.

What do you love about Utah County?

My buddy is a HUGE Ice climber, he has been trying to get me into forever those guys are just crazy. My favorite part about Utah though is the four seasons, we have the ability to do many different thing in each of them.

I am sorry, but nothing compares to Idaho. Especially the sunsets!

It’s true, Idaho is great too. But there are parts of Idaho (like Rexburg, Rupert, and Burley) that are BITTER with wind and all that. I you can’t deny that the Sugar Factory stench in Paul, Idaho can definitely be eliminated from your daily commute :)

My parents are from Idaho and I never enjoyed going there as a kid. I’d have to say I’d much rather be in Utah. Although the Tetons are pretty darn cool…or are they technically in Wyoming or something?

I agree that the mountains are really cool here, so why not show a picture of Timp instead of Cascade???

The other reason to live in Utah Valley is that you’re near to a lot of great skiing resorts!

Although utah has great things about it, nothing compares to Idaho in my opinion. The thing that puts Idaho over the top of Utah for me is the fact that the great things to do in Idaho are less populated. It seems that almost any where you go in Utah (i’m mainly speaking outdoors) you are met there with hundreds of people, whereas in idaho you might be the only one. GO IDAHO! :)

But Utah has the “Greatest Snow on Earth”. I do agree that many places can be over populated in Utah but to me that makes it more exciting to “discover the hidden treasures in Happy Valley”.

I love Idaho, don’t get me wrong, but there are some amazing places to visit in Utah County as well. I encourage you to continue exploring!
