Macaroni Grill
4801 N University Ave # 50
Provo, UT 84604
There are so many quality restaurants in Provo, Utah anymore. It’s hard to know where to go with all the options to chose from.
Today 14 business friends and I went to Macaroni Grill in Provo, Utah for a high quality “quick lunch”. Unfortunately, there was nothing “quick” about this experience.
I know, Macaroni Grill isn’t supposed to be an “In and Out” joint, but let me share with readers some interesting statistics that I took note of while patiently waiting:
- Arrived at Macaroni Grill – 11:55 a.m.
- Bread and Oil served to lunch party – 12:05 p.m.
- Drinks orderd – 12:10 p.m.
- Orders taken – 12:20 p.m.
- Side Salads served – 12:45 p.m. (50 minutes total to get a side salad)
- Refill of drinks – I don’t recall this happening, although some say it did.
- Orders finally arrive – 12:55 p.m. (some of our party had to leave so their orders had to be brought in boxes)
- Free Chocolate Cake for entire party, of which some of us didn’t have time to eat – 1:10 p.m.
Like I said at the forefront of this Provo Utah restaurant review, the Macaroni Grill has always been one of my favorite places to eat. I totally recommend the Chicken Scallopine with Angel Hair pasta. However, if you are looking for a quality lunch and are in a time crunch, Macaroni Grill may not be the best pick.
What’s your experience? Where do you recommend for a nice, quick lunch in Provo, Utah?

Nate:
You should check out Burgers Supreme, they have the best Burgers in town! I would recommend the Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Oh and by the way Burgers Supreme now caters events from 50 people to 1000+ so keep them in mind for your next event.

Fail for the Mac Grill. Too bad. I enjoy their food, but en experience like this can make me stay away. There is almost nothing as bad as bad service.
I love the food at Macaroni Grill, but I’ve had a few waits myself.
A great place for a quick lunch is G’s personal catering on Geneva Road in Orem. There’s only one or two things on the menu, but the menu changes everyday. It’s reasonably priced at about $7 for fast food that’s not fast food. You walk in, pay, get your food and sit down. The last time I went I had a green salad, potato dish, steamed vegetables, and salmon. It was excellent.
Honestly, I blacklisted Macaroni Grill a couple years ago when they stopped selling their delicious Italian Nachos. My wife and I would go there just for those.
Their food is pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. Don’t go there for a quick lunch cause it won’t happen.
If you’re like me and love italian nachos, go to Johnny Carino’s. They have some really good ones
If a company doesn’t have Nachos, I’d definitely “blacklist” them too
I agree, the food is pretty good at Macaroni Grill; however, if I were to compare The Pizza Factory’s “Make Your Own Pasta” left-overs to what I ate today for left-overs from the Mac Grill, I’d have to say The Pizza Factory wins the prize!
Thanks for the comment. We’ll have to find an Italian joint in south Utah County that has your infamous Italian Nachos.
Thanks for the comment Adam! I look forward to testing out G’s Personal Catering on Geneva Rd. in Orem Utah. The pressure will be on them since you gave them a good review. Stay tune for a detailed report…
Talk to you soon! Let your friends know about UCR.
Agreed. The Mac Grill will not be my choice when you eventually take me to lunch
As mentioned earlier, the food is decent and the location is nice, but 40 minutes for a simple Caesar Salad? Come on!
Thanks for the comment. I’d love a review from you on that sandwich shop you found in Orem.
Hmm…not sure if that compares to Macaroni Grill
But I do agree that Burger Supreme is a great place for burgers.
Stay tune, UCR will soon be inviting “guest posts” from fellow Utah County peeps who want to help us “Discover the Hidden Treasures in Happy Valley!”
Thanks for the comment!
Macaroni Grill is okay at best. The food is decent, the atmosphere is alright, but I know of a few other places nestled quietly in the county that I would MUCH rather go to and spend my money!
Would love to here what the “few other places nestled quietly in the county” are!
Talk to you soon!
